Tips On Boosting Your Confidence
We all have different levels of confidence, and it’s true that you can build your confidence in many ways. When you have it, it can help bring more joy and experiences to your life, so if you feel as though you’re lacking confidence, here are some tips on how to boost it.
Do Something That Scares You
Fear can be a controlling emotion, and it can stop you from doing things that may bring more value to your life, more happiness and experiences. Doing something that scares you is easier said than done. However, even if you can challenge yourself to do something every day, you will certainly see a growth in yourself that you didn’t even know was possible.
So try to aim to do one thing every day that scares you, whether that’s something in your personal life or your work life. Perhaps you avoid networking opportunities because the thought of approaching people is nerve-wracking? Well, push yourself and attend a networking event or be conscious of actively approaching people in a networking scenario. Or maybe it’s trying a new outfit or look that you’ve held back on doing in fear of getting negative feedback. Learn to take these opportunities and be fearless in your decisions. You never know what it might bring to your life.
Give Yourself Some Self-Care
We all need to spend time on ourselves, and self-care is a phrase that’s been floating around for a while now. Many find confidence in their appearance and how they feel about themselves and the way they look. Ultimately, you should be working on your confidence for you and only you, and the same can be said for altering your looks. Some men, for example, may find that genetics have given them a receding hairline and for many of us, hair is something that is a defining feature of our face. Hair transplants are something that has now become widely available in the beauty industry, and after seeing hair transplant before after photos, it may be worth considering. A lot of celebrities have endorsed this procedure not because of vanity but because of boosting their own confidence.
It’s important for everyone to give themselves some love and attention, no matter how busy your life gets. Self-care is certainly an opportunity to help bring your confidence levels up.
Cut Out Toxic Relationships
It might not be something you realize immediately, but certain relationships can cause problems with confidence, especially if they are the ones bringing you down. Toxic relationships are those that aren’t positive. They are only focused on your weak points and dragging you done for their own amusement or with an agenda in mind. Look at your friendship group, your family members, or someone you are with. Are they lifting you up when you need that reassurance or are they encouraging your doubts? Do they make you happy, or is every social interaction exhausting or upsetting? People come in and out of our lives, but there are times where you need to be assertive and cut those people out who aren’t lifting you up.
Again, it’s another easier said than done situation, but you’ll notice the difference and feel better for it once it’s done. As you grow older, your priorities change and those friends and family members who can adapt with you, are worth keeping. Those who don’t, may not have your best interests at heart.
See Failure In A Different Light
Failure always comes with a negative viewpoint. Failure is often seen as a setback and something that needs to be avoided at all costs. But what if failure is seen in a different light. Failure can actually be a lesson to be learned and without failure, you’ve no way of progressing forward. The same goes for your confidence and failure that may have a knock to it. There are times where you go into a situation with confidence, and it fails. However, that shouldn’t be a bad thing, if anything it should tell you that it was an opportunity not right for you or something to analyse and move on from. Everyone has failure in life, but it’s a way of knowing what went wrong and how to fix it so that it doesn’t happen again next time.
Give Yourself A Pep Talk
When you don’t have a hype-man, be it for yourself. We all go through points of feeling unsure in ourselves and sometimes that self-motivation is something that can help you go through with it. A pep talk is something you can give yourself when you find yourself in these situations where your confidence is shaking. Tell yourself that’s going to be fine and that whatever the situation may be, there will always be an end to it and that you can then move forward, regardless of the outcome. It can be something you do just beforehand or every morning. A little motivational boost that you can do in front of the mirror or a mantra you tell yourself without saying it out loud. You can do this, you’ve got this. Positive words are the main key point to take away from this, only use positives!
Positive thinking is also something that you should keep on your mind all the time. Never think negatively because that attitude will only encourage negative things to happen. Be optimistic and think only happy thoughts. Don’t let anything negative cloud your judgment.
Boosting your confidence is a life-long task. Some find it easier to gain confidence, where others need more time. There is no right or wrong way, but it’s good to note how you can work on yourself to help bring your confidence levels up. So do something that scares you and aim to do this every day. Don’t avoid self-care when you need it the most and do what you want to make you feel good about yourself. Think about the relationships around you and only have people in your life that bring you up.
