6 of the Cheapest Places To Live, Work, And Keep The Hustle Going

For digital nomads, freelancers, and jet setters, it’s all about travelling to as many places as you can while still being able to make a living. Hustling abroad gives you the chance to explore new places, indulge in the culture, and live better than you might at home. So where are the best places to go if you want to live, work, and hustle all at the same time?

Medellin, Colombia

Considered the City of Eternal Spring, Medellin has a vibrant expat community and a plethora of coworking spaces to get some time to yourself out of the hostel (of which there are plenty, too).

The wifi is good enough (although this varies in different neighbourhoods) and you can live on 10,000 COP per day. The city is also connected via Metro and bus services. Don’t let its archaic reputation fool you, Medellin is a growing, metropolitan city that’s on the up.

Bali, Indonesia

The place where everyone backpacking Southeast Asia likes to end their trip, Bali is more than just the Gili Islands and sprawling golden beaches. There’s a vibrant community of young professionals there looking for success.

You can meet fellow travellers at one of the many hostels, or rent an Airbnb for less than $400 per month. There’s also the coworking space Bali Bustle, which helps you make that bread and build your brand surrounded by like-minded individuals.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Up north and close (well, 3 hours) from the backpacker paradise of Pai, Chiang Mai is a favourite spot for nomads and travellers alike.

The internet speed is good, especially for Thailand and everything is so close that you can walk around the town with ease. It’s also a fantastic place to experience Song Kran, the Thai new year. Just make sure you don’t take your laptop out with you during this three day plus water fight.

Budapest, Hungary

Separated by the Danube, Budapest comprises two sections: Buda and Pest. Buda is considered the trendier and more modern part of the city, and it;’s likely this is where you’ll stay.

For digital nomads, internet speed is reliable but a little expensive. However, the rest of the city is so cheap that it balances out. There’s also tons to do, so you’ll never be bored, just don’t miss any deadlines before you enjoy the nightlife!

Tbilisi, Georgia

Readers from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand can travel to Georgia without a visa, so that’s one reason to visit. But the fun doesn’t stop there.

Despite being a lesser-visited part of Europe, Tbilisi is dripping with culture that when balanced beside easily accessible wifi, low crime, and friendly people make it a destination that you can embrace while the rest of the world overlooks it. They might not for much longer, though.

Da Lat, Vietnam

Another location considered one of Eternal Spring you’ll find Da Lat in the mountains of Vietnam where the weather is not quite what you find in Hanoi or Da Nang.

Here, there’s room to breathe, and it also boasts one of the lowest crime rates in all of Southeast Asia. You can purchase a $25 visa for 30 days on entry to Vietnam, which you can extend if you desire.

The Hustle Never Stops

Once you get the taste of working while you travel, you never want to go back to the 9 to 5 lifestyle. With these cities, you don’t need to, and you can keep travelling and working for as long as you like — what a dream.
