Private White V.C x Mr. Porter Wool Blend Coat.
I stopped by the Private White store on Bond Street over the weekend to pick up this double-sided Merino wool blend coat, which is part of the Private White x The Woolmark Company collaboration that everyone is excited about. Although I could have gotten this at Mr Porter.com. I dropped in to see the collection for myself! Private White V.C's recent collaboration with The Woolmark Company introduces fundamental pieces for the modern man on the go, from overcoats to raincoats, wool-filled parkas to bombers and travel blazers. This is my first coat of the season, and I am really pleased with the design and form, as well as the two internal jet-pocket smartphone-friendly compartments, which are just what I've been looking for this autumn.
Private White V.C. is still manufactured in Manchester today. A raincoat firm that manufactured private label products for some of the largest names in British outerwear was purchased by a former soldier in His Majesty's Empire, a specific Private White who served in WWI. Prior to the large acquisition, Private White had worked as an apprentice, pattern cutter, and general manager. He owned the place by the end of his life, and when he died, the plant was handed over to new management.
Soft and hardworking - luxurious and breathable - stylish and sustainable; these aren't characteristics you'd generally associate with what hangs in your closet, but with the Private White V.C. x The Woolmark® Company partnership, they do.
This collection brings the "Sheep to Shop" concept to life and honours decades of steadfast dedication and unwavering friendship from the local woollen mills in the north west of England. Each piece has been crafted from merino wool, renowned as the most beautiful wool in the world, and has been developed with the exclusive assistance of the world's premier premium menswear destination.
